Will the "G.I. Joe" movie be a dud?

by Billy Fisher

It is sad to say, but, I get the feeling that a lot of people are starting to think that this film will be a flop.  From what I have read over at nukethefridge.com, our suspicions have been right.  One of their writers had the opportunity to go to Paramount studios and preview a one minute trailer of next summers "blockbuster".

He describes the trailer starting off with some jets flying across the screen and then showing Dennis Quaid(Hawk) talking to his elite group.  The next thing you see is a bunch of "Joes" jumping out of a plane, and get this, they are all dressed up like Snake Eyes.  Click on the link above to read a full description.

I could only write that much about the review because I felt myself getting sick as I was typing.  I feel like one of the best things about the old cartoon is that every character was different.  They all dressed differently and they all had a different speciality.  The only guys that were dressed up the same were the background characters that usually died in the show.  I admit, Snake Eyes has one of the coolest uniforms out of all of the Joe's. But if they are all dressed that way, it takes away from the coolness.

You would think by now that Hollywood would know that when you try to change something that has this strong of a following, you are going to fail.  There are some of you out there that are reading this and thinking that I am just being too petty.  You think that the uniforms that the Joe's wear should have no affect on the way the movie will turn out.  I strongly beg to differ.  Think about it this way, how would you feel if every single super hero movie that came out from now on, the hero was dressed up like Peter Griffin?  As funny as that would be, the movies would not be as good as you would hope.

The other problem that I see with this film is casting.  Don't get me wrong, the majority of the cast is perfect.  Dennis Quaid(Hawk), Ray Park(Snake Eyes), Christopher Eccleston(Destro), heck I even think that Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Cobra Commander is a great choice.  I think that he will be able to pull off that little man syndrome attitude that we all know and love Cobra Commander for.  There are many more people in the cast that I love, but then there are those select few that could screw everything up.  Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, and Sienna Miller are the flies in the ointment.  Unfortunately, I feel that these actors bring nothing to the table and are only a waste of space.  Having people like that in the cast can send the whole thing crashing to the ground.

I could go on and on about how Hollywood has trashed some of our favorite characters, but I think that I have made my point.  I want to know what you think about this situation.  Do you think that this movie can be salvaged?  Or do you think that the makers of this film have bitten off more than they could chew?  Let me know what you think.  Until next time soldiers!
