When will we see a Batman 3?

by Billy Fisher

From the sound of it, not any time soon.  At least that is what I get out of this article on usatoday.com

Mr. Nolan sounds like he has a fear of "the third":

I don't know why they're hard to do," Nolan says. "Maybe there's so much expectation to them. But I wouldn't want to do one if it weren't going to be as good as the first or second. That's not respectful to the fans

I know there have been a lot of thirds that have turned out to be flops.  But CN is up against a bigger challenge than most.  Not only did he have the second highest grossing movie ever, but the actor that brought the most to the movie has passed away.  The challenge is finding a suitable villain that can keep the interest of the fans the way Mr. Ledger did.  Because of his spectacular performance, I would be more than fine with this being the last Batman film.  I just have trouble trying to find that one villian that stand out after Ledgers Joker

Don't worry all of you hardcore Dark Knight fans.  CN has not given up on the project:

Nolan says he is jotting notes and doing some rough outlines for a third story, but he hasn't yet found anything he's willing to commit to film, despite Warner Bros.' eagerness to get a new film underway

I'm just glad to know that he is not sacrificing the material just to please "the man".  In my opinion, there have been some great "thirds" that have been made.  I feel that my all time favorite is Army of Darkness.  I want to know that you all think have been some great thirds to have come out.  I know they are out there, so it can be done.  As you all know, we here at GeekTyrant will stay on top of any Dark Knight news.  But until then, let me know what you think.
