Unnecessary Sequel Alert! Alivn and The Chipmunks 2
Beside the fact that the first movie made over $358,400,000.00 world wide. Why would anyone want to make a sequel?! When I saw that number of what the first one made I about crapped my pants. I honestly can't belive so many people wasted their money on that film and I am sure FOX is so hoping that a sequel will pay off just as well. It most likely wont make that much money again. I hope not anyway! Good Grief what does that say about the people that go to the movies. Now I Understand that it is a kids movie but I am sure FOX could come up with a better concept and film to spend their money on. I guess some studio's aren't willing to take the risk of producing an original concept. Here is what Variety reports on the matter:
The chipmunks are tuning up for a bigscreen return in 2010. Twentieth Century Fox will release sequel "Alvin and the Chipmunks II" on March 19, 2010. A follow-up had been expected given the breakaway success of the first pic, which grossed $217.3 domestically and $141.1 million overseas for a worldwide haul of $358.4 million. But the film, which will be a co-production between Fox 2000 and New Regency, has no script yet. Furthermore, executives haven't settled on a concept for the sequel. The first film left off with the three singing chipmunks reuniting with their manager Dave Seville (Jason Lee).
It was unclear if Lee is attached to the sequel.
My favorite part about the whole thing is that the movie was greenlit without a script or concept! Oh Hollywood when will you learn. Or maybe I'm the one thats wrong. I'm sure the kiddies will like it.
