Creator of "The OC" writing New "X-Men" Movie?!
Whoa! whoa! whoa! Slow down there tiger you missed the exit. Huh... ok this kinda of came out of the blue didn't it. Creator of the hit TV shows "Gossip Girl", "Chuck", and "The OC" Josh Schwartz is writing a new "X-Men" movie that he is being paid by the studio to do. It will be a prequel.
It will center on teenage characters at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. "It's not like I'm adding new characters like Toaster Head, or anything like that."
"I'm very well aware that I'll be bludgeoned by purists, but I love its mythology, and it comes with a pretty hefty paycheck."
You got that right buddy. You are way out of your element on this one.
So here is what he says about the Hulk movie, are you ready for this?
"The Hulk looks like it's going to be terrible. And why does he look like he's fighting against the monster from Cloverfield? I mean, with Transformers, it's not like fans were going to come back saying, ‘You used the wrong car.' This, however, is a different story. Of his predecessors and their successes (or failures), he says, "Brett Ratner didn't have a lot of credibility going in to the third X-Men movie, but I think Bryan Singer [who directed the first two installments] got a free pass on Superman Returns because of his work on X-Men."
Everyone involved in "The Hulk" has much more talent and imagination than you. I think the monster in Cloverfield was much bigger. Oh! and they look nothing alike! I will add Ratner lost even more credibility after he screawed up "X-Men 3". And Bryan Singer got a free pass?! I don't know any director that gets a free pass! They work their ass off to get where they want to be! He is obviously the better director.
Here's a nightmare situation for ya. Who has Schwartz worked with on the majority of his projects? Who do you think he will recomend to direct this "X-Men" prequel? Why none other than......
McG.
Nuff said.
Venkman out.
