So do you think Paramount regrets kicking Tom Cruise off the lot? The Mission Impossible Series is really the only 1 or of 2 franchises that Paramount has. The other being Star Trek. They can't really make a Fourth installment without Cruise either. Unless they re-invent the MI series with someone else. I also will note that this has all happened after the report came out that Tom was looking for another spy/action/thriller franchise. Very interesting indeed. Here is whats Variety has to say:
"Viacom boss Sumner Redstone said Tuesday he has no objection to Tom Cruise starring in the next installment of the "Mission Impossible" franchise, despite cutting his relationship with the actor in 2006.
Redstone ended a 14-year relationship with Cruise and producing partner Paula Wagner in August 2006, kicking them off the Paramount Pictures lot and ending their lucrative deal to develop projects for the studio.
Despite the severed relationship, Cruise is in talks with Paramount to star in a fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.
"I consider Tom Cruise a great actor and a good friend," Redstone said. "And if Paramount decides - and they will make the decision - to move ahead with him, I will not object."
Redstone said Tuesday that he did not know if Cruise would be chosen for the film.
"That's up to Brad Gray, who runs Paramount," Redstone said. "He will make the decision.
I really dont think Parmount will say no if Tom is willing to work with them again. Of Course whatever deal they make with him is going to be ridiculous. I guess we'll see what happens. I wont object to an MI:4.
