Review "The Red Album": For those here to see "Weezer"

by Billy Fisher

So for Father's Day my lovely wife gave me the new Weezer album.  Effectively called "The Red Album", this is one of their best in my opinion.

It starts off in "Blue Album" fashion with the song "Troublemaker".  Then it treats your brain like an etch-a-sketch and shakes it up.  It feels like a rollercoaster, it hits every emotion.  It is one of the most true albums that I have heard in awhile.  I am not sure what the world of Weezer will think.  All I know is that I have been hooked on this band since their first album.  I can say this album is fighting for the top spot on my favorite Weezer album.  The Blue album is still king in that fight but the Red album might overtake "Pinkerton" as my second favorite.

When you listen to it you will understand what I mean when I say this.  This is the album they were made to make.  Not only does Rivers take the helm as lead singer, each band member has a song that they sing.  Surprisingly it doesn't detract from the over all feel of the album.  In fact it makes this album better.

I love this album but if you are looking for some key tracks to listen too to see if this is for you then here are some to check out.  "Heart Songs", which tells of the influences in this bands history.  "Thought I Knew", I love because we always have these thoughts after a nasty break-up.  "Cold Dark World", is just plain good.  If you get the album with the bonus tracks, "King" is probably my favorite of those.  I have to stop because I could tell you about the whole thing and I fear that I have bored you already.

Check this album out and let me know what you think.
