Can Wes Craven bring us a new Fresh Horror with 25/8?!

by Joey Paur

Venkman here - Earlier this year it was announced that Wes Craven was working on a new horror film called 25/8. This is going to be a new attempt to introduce a new  original villain much like Ghost Face from 'Scream' and Freddy Krueger. This is not an easy task in todays movie market even if you do carry the title 'Master of Horror' because lets face it Wes Craven has dropped the ball before. But hes also made some really great horror films to so I am ready to see what he's got.

25/8 is apparently about a villian who shows up 15 years after he is executed to kill seven kids born on the same night he was put to death. Craven who also wrote the movie said that the film is:

"more a thriller than slasher film, and revolves around a young kid with a very dark past involving his family and his father."

An actor by the name of Max Thieriot was cast to play this young kid with a dark past, and he recently talked to STYD about the film. And had this to say:

"I feel Nightmare on Elm Street is cool because it's very smart. It's not just killing. It has a whole back story and this craziness going on, and I think 25/8 has that, too. It's basically about this kid and his life and when he's born, his dad was a serial killer who had multiple personalities and basically, as people start dying in the movie, I start getting multiple personalities, too, because I inherited it from my dad. It's kind of like this crazy plot but the whole time, people are just switching in and out of personalities. You're not really sure who's killing who and it's very cool."

Not a bad idea. I like it. but I still have a few questions. Is every personality he takes on a serial killer except his own? Max Say's "people are just switching in and out of personalities." Are there other people with multiple personalities? Do his personalities have multiple personalities? Now that would be interesting. We have a little more insight on the film but there are still allot of question that I am sure will be answered soon enough. I just hope Wes Craven can really deliver horror fans a new original monster in 25/8. I am sure you will agree with me that the horror genre needs a reboot. These horror movie are starting to get old and boring.
