McMurphy here with DVD "Easter Egg" hunt fun!

by Billy Fisher

Alright fellow surfers, bust out your dvd collections because I have some fun things for you to check out!  Today, while I was on the throne, I was reading the only appropriate thing, "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader".  I don't know if you've ever had the chance to read any of their publishings, but let me tell you, it is worth it.  Where do you think I got my wealth of random knowledge?  But today, while conducting business, I stumbled upon something we all can enjoy.  Hidden Easter Eggs & Bonus scenes in DVD's.  So, here are some for you to read and enjoy:

1.  Citizen Kane (1941) - To find this treasure, start in the main menu.  Choose "Special Features".  Then click the right arrow on your remote control.  When you see the Rosebud sled, press enter.

When you do this, you get a five minute interview with actress Ruth Warrick (Emily Kane).

Bonus Feature: If you go and click on "production notes", then "in the beginning", and then "stills gallery", you get a special treat.  You need to click on the sleds and you'll get two more bonus features.  An interview with editor Robert Wise, and one with film critic Roger Ebert.

2. The Sixth Sense (1999) - What you do is choose "bonus materials" from the main menu, then click all the way down and choose "more".  At the bottom of this page, will be a jewelry box.  Click down to it, the lid will open and you'll see an image of a video tape that says "Night's First Horror Film".

What you'll see is a minute and a half horror film that director M. Night Shyamalan made when he was 11 years old.

3. The Simpsons: Season 1 Box Set (1989) - Insert the 3rd disc.  Choose "extra features" from the main menu, and go to the 2nd page.  Click on "'Some Enchanted Evening' Script".  Press the Left arrow key, then enter.

You get an original 1990 T.V. news report on the controversy of "The Simpsons".

4. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) - Go to the main menu and select "Special Features".  Wait approximately 30 seconds until Dr. Evil spaceship appears and flies to the top of your screen.  It will leave a big "E".  Click over to the "E", wait till it turns red, and press enter.

This will give you the page "Dr. Evil's Special Features".  You will see four hidden features including a mockumentary entitled "The Dr. Evil Story".

5. The Godfather DVD Collection (1972) - On the fourth disc entitled "Bonus Materials", choose "Set Up" from the main menu.  Then press the right arrow.  A globe will appear.  Press enter.

This gives you a few of the classic sceens dubbed in foreign languages.

Extra Bonus - On the main menu, select "Filmmakers".  Then click on "Mario Puzo".  Press left arrow twice.  When the "$" sign appears, press enter.

You will see Mario Puzo shooting pool with Francis Ford Coppola, and discussing his novel The Godfather.

6.  Planet of the Apes (2001) - From the main menu of the first disc, click on "Special Features", then on "Commentaries".  Press the down button twice, then enter.

This gives you a commentary of the film all in ape language.

7. Cast Away (2000) - On the main menu of the second disc, click on "Video and Stills Galleries".  Go down to "Raft Escape".  DO NOT PRESS ENTER.  Just click the left arrow button.  Yellow and blue wings will appear on the left.  Now press enter.

This gives the answer to the question that is on everyones mind.  Press play, and Robert Zemeckis (Director) will tell you what was in the Fed-ex package.

I found this a fun way to waste time.  Try these and let me know what you think.

McMurphy Out!
