Dr. Venkman Reviews: WANTED

by Joey Paur

WANTED was one hell of a roller coaster ride of mind blowing awesomeness! When I first heard this was being made into a movie I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. Then they started releasing trailers and film clips and the more I saw the more I was sold on seeing this movie! By the time WANTED hit theaters I couldn't wait to see what director Timur Bekmambetov had in store for me.

The film marketing built up this movie so much and got me so excited. I had really high expectations for it. Well it blew my high expectations to kingdom come and exceeded them. WANTED was a brilliantly executed movie that was fantastic in everyway it could be. From the very beginning I was hooked in the world that was created. Why? Because everyone one of us is going through what Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) was going through. The movie starts out like the movie ‘Office Space' with all the little things that happen in offices we work in that are annoying as hell, but we seem helpless or to chicken shit to escape from. With ‘Office Space' the main character just gets lazy and doesn't care anymore. In WANTED Wesley takes a slightly different road. A sweet ass assassin road to glory and honor! This movie is about a normal guy living a pathetic life who is given the opportunity to play some games, learn some assassin skills like how to take the worst beating ever, and execute a crazy bullet curve! From start to finish this movie rocked the audiences world!

WANTED was an extremely funny movie. I found my self laughing almost all the way through it. Then there is the action, which was so amazing. There is so much detail in the scenes that if you are watching intently you are going to catch some pretty amazing stuff. I am sure I missed a few things but when I watch the movie again I am sure I am going to se things I missed the first time. I can't describe the action in the movie. It is unlike anything I have scene before. There is so much imagination behind this movie and they didn't hold back when executing their vision.

One of the best scenes of the movie takes place the day after Wesley was introduced to the Fraternity of Assassins and he is at work. It is his transformation from Wesley Gibson pathetic nobody to Wesley Gibson "I am the man". Its one of those things you really wish you had the balls to do, but just can't because it is socially unacceptable.

The cast was great! You had James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Terence Stamp, Common, Thomas Kretschmann and several others. They are not ground breaking performances by any means, but they executed their parts well and all looked as badass as badass can get.

Timur Bekmambetov is an incredibly visionary director with a limitless imagination and a great eye for detail. This is one of the best action movies I have ever seen for cryin out loud! This is the guy that should be directing Transformers! He will be the next big action director, after seeing Wanted I can't see how he wont. This guy knows what he's doing.

You must go see WANTED. You will not be disappointed. It's got everything you want in an action film! This Action film even has a solid story and great dialogue! You cannot not miss out on this one. This is also a movie you have to watch on the big screen or you are missing out on something amazing. So get yourself to the theater, buy yourself a ticket to WANTED grab a drink, popcorn, and redvines. Strap yourself in your seat and take one of the best rides you'll go on all summer!

What ever you choose to go see always remember to enjoy your time at the movies!
