Adam Sandlers Happy Madison to Set up Scary Madison Productions

by Joey Paur

Adam Sandler and his production company Happy Madison are going to try out a new film genre other than comedy. The Production company has signed on to make a thriller called 'Shortcut'. The movie is being made under the new genre label Scary Madison. The movie is about...

two brothers who come upon a rarely used shortcut in their new town -- and soon discover the reasons why it's so rarely used. Andrew Seeley, Shannon Woodward and Dave Franco will star.

"Shortcut" will be financed by Ingo Volkhammer's hedge fund-backed Leomax Entertainment and co-produced by Leomax and Scary Madison. Volkhammer, Scary Madison's Scott Sandler and Brian Witten and Leomax's Scott Einbinder will produce; Adam Sandler and Scary Madison's Jack Giarraputo will serve as exec producers. The Sandlers' shingle will rely on Happy Madison talent for various creative roles in "Shortcut" -- the script is co-written by Scott Sandler, while Nicholaus Goosen, who directed Happy Madison's intergenerational comedy "Grandma's Boy," will helm. Dan Hannon co-wrote the screenplay.

I think its pretty cool that they are branching out into other kinds of films. Happy Madison haven't put out a decent movie in awhile, 'Grandmas Boy' and 'Strange Wilderness' were awful. Not sure how 'Zohan' will end up yet. There are other production company's dedicated to the craft of thriller/horror films. It will be interesting to see how these funny guys take on the genre.
