Guillermo Del Toro is not 'Afraid of the Dark'

by Joey Paur

Venkman here and it looks like Guillermo Del Toro has another film of his plate called 'Afraid of the Dark'. The movie will actually be a remake of a TV horror movie cult classic that was done by ABC back in 1973. Thats a long time ago my friends.
"Dark" centers on a young girl, sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs.

The film is in its early stages; research and development of the monsters hasn't begun yet, and other producers might come aboard. Moviegoers can expect an upscale creature feature along the lines of del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth," with an emphasis on distinctive characters in keeping with the Miramax slate.

I hate when sinister creatures make their home under the stairs! With Del Toros amazing imagination I can imagine these creatures being crazy looking. I'm sure he has got an ace up his sleeve with this one, there is a reason why he wants to do it. He sees a very cool story to work with.

Directing the film is comic book artist writer Troy Nixey. This will be the first film he directs. Del Toro and Matthew Robbins who worked together on 'Mimic' will adapt Nigel McKeand's teleplay.

Should be interesting to see how this film production unfolds.
