Billy Bob Thornton... The New Freddy Krueger?

Venkman here with some interesting news regarding Michael Bays 'Nightmare on Elm Street' remake. Joblo has come across a little interview with Robert Englund the original knife glove killing dream guy, on the radio show Loveline. In the interview he talks about how the last he heard about the movie was that Billy Bob Thornton may be playing the crazy ass dream killer of death. This is only a rumor for the moment who knows if there is any truth behind it. He also talked about the remake saying:

he's not opposed to being replaced (as he says, he already made the movie), or the remake itself, since he feels it's the sort of movie that deserves a bigger budget for the dreamscape special effects (they ran out of money while making the first movie).

It should be interesting to see what they do to the franchise with a much bigger budget. I would like to see Robert Englund return to the role again. Its not like he couldn't do it. But if they are going to go with some one else why not Billy Bob. I can see the guy pulling it off but he is not my first choice. I don't see Freddy Krueger with a hick accent, thats for sure.
