'Voltron' Movie is moving Forward

by Joey Paur

Venkman here - It looks like Fox-based New Regency is moving forward with 'Voltron: Defender of the Universe'. The movie is based on the awesome 80's cartoon that a lot of us grew up watching. The trades are reporting:

Ryan Kavanaugh's financing and production venture Relativity Media is in negotiations to back the property, though on a more moderate budget, utilizing the type of cost-effective technology employed in films including "300."

The Mark Gordon Co. still is attached to produce "Voltron," which is based on the popular Japanese animated TV series of the 1980s.

Mark Gordon and Jordan Wynn are producers. Bryan Zuriff is exec producing. Producers expect to attach a director within the next week.

So it looks like it will get a bigger budget that originally but now as much as 'Transformers' got if they are looking in the rage of the '300' movie budget. It will be interesting to see who the studio brings on to direct the film. Justin marks is writing the script. He has recently written scripts for 'He-man' and 'Green Arrow'.

It was only a matter of time before they got this movie started. The success of 'Transformers' had a huge hand in this movie moving forward. With Justin marks writing the script it is bound to be a better script than 'Transformers'.

I am excited about this project and cant wait to see what happens with it. What do you think?
