All that crazy talk about the New 'Punisher' Movie... False Information

by Joey Paur

Venkman here - Wowzers this whole 'Punisher' movie crap has really taken over the net hasn't it? It just got so annoying and out of control that I eventually stopped talking about it. I am a big fan of 'The Punisher' and this was a movie that looked like it could be pretty bad ass. I like everything I have seen. I wish they would have brought Thomas Jane back but what can ya do he didn't want to do it.

So there was that crazy shit that hit the net regarding the film that showed the production going to hell.

The release date was pushed back from September to December of this year.

A rumor that Lexi Alexander had been kicked off the movie right before Comic-Con

Then comes word that yes, she is still involved with the film after all

And the icing on the cake was a couple days ago Latino Review reported that it was looking like Punisher: War Zone might be getting edited down to a PG-13 rating instead of an R by Lionsgate.

Because of this negative news spreading like wildfire morale for the film hit a low fans started to loose interest and the whole thing was a mess. As it turns most of this news is not true!

The cinematographer for Punisher Steve Gainer had this to say from The Raw Board forum:

Lexi is not off the film.

Lexi is still involved in the edit process.

The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13.

He saw a cut that ran 91 minutes.

Lexi did in fact get married (referencing the "she's on her honeymoon" reason given by the studio for her non-appearance at the Con).

Lexi is an incredibly talented director, and this film kicks major ass, as will be proven when it is released in theaters December 5th.

The film is most certainly not all exploding heads, but will reveal a great deal of Frank's persona and pain.

So there you have it folks. A voice from the production itself. Why Lexi or Lionsgate haven't come out to talk about it is kind of strange. I don't know, but I hope all of the above is true. I would like to think the movie is intact and everything is good. I hate Hollywood drama it tends to ruin movies.

As for 'Punisher: War Zone' I think the Damage has been done. I can only imagine the movie is not going to do very well at the box office. Behold the power of the Internet!

I guess we'll find out how this all ends up when we watch it in December. That's if you even plan on watching it.
