More Disappointing Info on Cobra Commander

by Joey Paur

This G.I. Joe movie is just getting worse and worse. the more I hear the more I hate it. This movie is going to reinvent the G.I. Joe franchise into a piece of shit. G.I. Joe has an incredibly huge fan base of all ages. You would think the filmmakers would make sure the fans are happy. I am hear to tell you that the fans are not happy at all. I have gone to several G.I. Joe forums and everything I have read is negative.

First it was taking away the iconic mask and replacing it with something that will be just as shitty as the rest of the costumes I have seen. So with out furthure adou here is what Joseph Gordon-Levitt has to say about his character of Cobra Commander thanks to MTV:

"The cool thing about my character was that it's not that digital," exclaimed Gordon-Levitt, revealing that he underwent significant changes to adapt to the role. "I get to put hours of prosthetic makeup on and see a different creature altogether. I've seen how he looks and it's really cool."

What does he mean its "not that digital"? Will it be partially digital? As for being a creature producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has said we are going to get to see Cobra Commanders "gritty" past which has made the Commander "Very Twisted" I am guessing his face got jacked up some how. Maybe Him and Duke were best friends growing up together, and they were messing around with fireworks one day and Duke lit an M80 and through is at little Cobra Commanders face and it blew up. He's been pissed off at Duke ever since.

Gordon-Levitt goes on to talk about the voice ansd the costume. We have seen all the other craptastic costumes for the movie but have yet to see the Commanders.

"I love that voice [from the cartoon]," enthused Gordon-Levitt. "Chris Latta is a fantastic voiceover artist, but if you did that exact voice it would sound ridiculous in a live-action movie. I guess it's half Chris Latta and half me."

I can live with a different voice. but it wont make up for the rest of the movie if its good.

The vocals won't be the only thing inspired by the cartoon, but according to the star, the film is taking pains to carve out its own niche on the franchise. "Everything is different," he said. "I think it maintains the spirit of it and all the fun, but it brings the character into three dimensions. It wouldn't look good if you did an exact replica of the cartoon. You wouldn't want me wearing a skin-tight bright-blue dictator's uniform. It would look silly."

I'm sorry, but it wouldn't be as silly as some of the costumes I have seen for this movie already. In fact sticking to the designs of the 80's cartoon would have been an improvement to what they ended up with. What do you think?

I think Stephen Sommers is going to ruin this movie and it will need to be reinvented once again in a year or 2. The new G.I. Cartoon that is coming out looks like it will be better than the movie.
