Darren Aronofsky Has a Noah's Ark Script and wants to put it into Development

by Joey Paur

Wow! this kind of came out of the blue! In an interview /Film had with Darren Aronofsky director of Pi, The fountain, and The Wrestler, he reveals that he is ready to make a massive epic based on the story of Noah's Ark. Apparently he has been fascinated with Noah since he was a kid, but really who isn't fascinated by that story of craziness. This is a project he has been working on for 10 years and now he is going to move on it. Here is what he has to say:

“Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get drunk. It’s there in the Bible - it was one of the first things he did when he reached land. There was some real survivor’s guilt going on there. He’s a dark, complicated character. The tragedies we perform on each other are so well reported. Quite clearly, the planet is dying, and we are dying on it.”

You know I never really saw Noah in that light before, but it really makes sence now that I think about it. Oh! And Aronofsky has also written a big ass script for the film already.

“We have an amazing screenplay, It’s a great script and it’s HUGE. And we’re starting to feel out talent. And then we’ll probably try and set it up.”

Now here is his pitch.

“It’s the end of the world and it’s the second most famous ship after the Titanic. So I’m not sure why any studio won’t want to make it,” said Aronofsky. “I think it’s really timely because it’s about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what’s going on on this planet. So I think it’s got these big, big themes that connect with us. Noah was the first environmentalist. He’s a really interesting character. Hopefully they’ll let me make it.”

I'm not quite sure our planet is going through the same thing now that it went through then. I would think the air, the enviroment and Ozone layer were incredibly clean and uneffected back then. They didn't have all the crap we have today being put into the air. But, I don't care. The movie would be awesome to see I would love to see this story he has planned on the big screen. Maybe in IMAX. What do you think? Are you down for a Noah film?
