Live Action 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Confirmed

by Joey Paur

Venkman here with a TMNT Movie update.

We reported a while back that a new TMNT movie was going to happen now we have confirmation that it is. The Confirmation of a Live action TMNT film has come from none other than Kevin Eastman The co-creator of the mutant pizza eating Ninja Turtles. Here is what he posted on HeavyMetal.com:

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better "re-invention" (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right--but no official word yet...will keep you posted. Best, Kevin

The last CGI version of Ninja Turtles made about $95 Million world wide. Not to shabby. So they are going to reinvent the franchise yet again. Back to how it all started. I really liked the last movie but if they feel they can do a better job I'll go see it. Everything that is being reinvented these days is being compared to Batman. So will the next TMNT movie be dark? Warner Bros has said they want to do movies more dark, like Batman. Will the Turtles draw blood?

I find it interesting that they are talking about having the orignal Ninja Turtles director to come back to do it right. What do you think?
