George Romero gets to work on Island Zombie Film

by Joey Paur

Romero is back to his old Zombie tricks again. It looks like he is about to start filming his next Zombie flick. It will be the sequel to his last movie ‘Diary of the Dead' and here is what he says:

"It'll be about three weeks in [past the outbreak] and it doesn't start with the people in the mansion [at the end of Diary]. It starts with the blonde who drove away and the national guardsmen who robbed the people. So those are the only characters that return. What it's about is tribalism. How the internet creates a Hatfields and McCoys situation. It's on an island, where people have been lured by someone on the net as a safe haven, but really what these guys are trying to do is hold them up at the boat docks."

That sounds pretty interesting. Zombie movies these days just aren't that interesting. I love zombie flicks! But, it is always the old story. It's time they change things up. But I don't think it will be this movie. There is one cool thing that is brought up by Voltage Pictures President Nicolas Chartier. Water Zombies.

"We're shooting underwater zombies," Chartier revealed. "They're swimming, grabbing people's legs, pulling them down. It's a lot of fun."

So Zombies have learned how to swim. Good for them.

I imagine the title will be somthing like 'Island of the dead'. What do you think about this movie or the Zombie Genre in genral?
