The Boy Wonder gets his Own TV series

Thats right folks Batmans sidekick Robin is getting prepped for a new TV show on the CW. Setting up and producing the project are Smallville producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson. McG is also going to be a producer on the show but does that really even matter? The TV show will be called 'The Graysons' Variety reports:

Just as "Smallville" focused on Clark Kent in the years before he became Superman, "The Graysons" will follow the world of Dick "DJ" Grayson before he takes on the iconic Robin identity and aligns himself with Batman.

So will it focus on the Graysons as they lived life in a traveling circus? Acrobats and drama. Probably not. It sounds like they are going to re-create the character.

In the one-hour "Graysons," which will be set in modern times, young DJ will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up. Souders and Peterson have come up with an original take on the character.

In the original Batman mythology, Grayson was a young acrobat and part of the family act called "The Flying Graysons." He was orphaned when a gangster sabotaged his parents' trapeze equipment. Bruce Wayne took him under his wing and trained him to help fight crime.

So now is this "DJ" going to be this regular guy, like everyone else on TV, some kid from 90210 or The OC? I think 'The Flying Graysons' story line would have been cool. Its different. They will probably make Dick an extreme sports fanatic. 

"The Graysons" is seen as a potential replacement for "Smallville" should that show end its run this season, which has been speculated. Should "Smallville" return next year, "The Graysons" might also make a strong companion piece.

Well, I really hope Smallville doesn't get cancelled! So far this season is pretty amazing. Not sure what I think about 'The Graysons' yet. I guess I'll have to wait for Pilot to air. I hope it's good. What do you think?
