Transformers 2 Joins the IMAX ranks

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is going to have three crazy action sequences in full blown IMAX! 

This is pretty cool. I remember watching the first film saying how awesome this would look in IMAX now it looks like I am going to get to see it. Here is what Variety reports:

Michael Bay will film at least three action set pieces using Imax cameras for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which is lensing.

They say at least three, so there possibly could be more. The same article states that D.J. Caruso has expressed interest in filming 'Y The Last Man' in IMAX as well. 

Why is IMAX all of a sudden blowing up? 'The Dark Knight' of course. I'm not sure why studio didn't take advantage of it before. But they say:

Studios are looking for ways to boost attendance and sell more tickets as auds increasingly opt to watch movies at home.

So its all about making money as well. IMAX is a big draw and it helped the success of 'The Dark Knight'. I don't think it would have made as much money as it did without the help of IMAX.
