Ghostbusters 3 Update who are the 'sharp young writers' Dan Was talking about?

by Joey Paur

Well, it looks like we may have an answer. Thanks to pajiba.com they say the two writers are Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. Who are they? They write for a little TV show called 'The Office'.

If you missed it here is what Dan Aykroyd had to say earlier this week:

Well, y'know, two sharp young writers are purported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would be an absolute dream.

Apparently Columbia Pictures had Stupnitsky and Eisenberg write the script in secret and they didn't even told Harold Ramis about it. Harold Ramis was pissed when he did find out though. Ramis didn't like the script.

So, to appease Ramis, Stupnisky and Eisenberg starting working with him on a new outline.

The problem: Columbia Pictures is now worried because they don't like any of Ramis' ideas, all of which presumably puts the future of Ghostbusters 3 up in the air.

Ouch. The original idea was that they would hand the film off to a new generation of Ghoastbusters. I hate that idea it would be so hard to see a new Ghostbusters movie with out the original cast involved. The way I see it after reading this... Drop it. Leave the property alone and move on. I don't want to se a crappy Ghostbusters film and at this point so early indevelopment there are already too many problems. I am happy to watch the original Ghostbusters movie over and over if I need a Ghostbusters fix. Your thoughts?

Venkman Out

The pic up top says it all. Just say no to Ghostbusters 3.
