What Movie do you want to see this weekend? Jan 23rd

by Joey Paur

Here is a list of movies coming out this weekend that many of you may be interested in. We have a few good movie hitting theaters and I am looking forward to watching a couple. For those of you that did not get a chance to see Dark Knight in IMAX now is your chance! I've been there done that so I'm good. At the top of my list this week is 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans', the movie looks like it is going to be a bloody good time. I would also like to catch 'Killshot' if it is playing anywhere near me. I am still recovering from Sundance, I am starting to have movie withdraws already I'm getting that itch. I have to get my fix before I loose it.

The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience

Cast: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart

Yeah We all know what this movie is about, we've all seen it, and we all know it got snubbed for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, but at least Heath Ledger was nominated. If you missed the Dark Knight in IMAX here is your last chance to get to see it in all its glory. So if it is playing near you and you haven't seen it in IMAX then it's worth checking out again.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Cast: Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, Rhona Mitra

This prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor, the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja, in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

I really like the 'Underworld' series, and I am going to go watch this movie and you should as well if you like this kind of thing.

Inkheart

Cast: Brendan Fraser, Paul Bettany, Helen Mirren

Inkheart revolves around a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud. When a villainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children's fable kidnap the man, his daughter and her friends, both real and imaginary, must rescue him. Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire penned the bigscreen adaptation of German author Cornelia Funke's fantasy novel, the first of a trilogy. "Inkspell" was published last fall, and "Inkdawn" will be out next year.

I may end up taking the kids to it, but I just don't like these kinds of Brenden Fraser movies.

Killshot

Cast: Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke, Thomas Jane

A botched scam sends an old-school hitman (Rourke) and a young stick-up kid (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) on a mission to find and kill an innocent couple (Jane and Lane) in order to protect their identities.

I love the cast of this movie! Let's hope it's good.

Donkey Punch

Cast: Robert Boulter, Sian Breckin, Tom Burke

After meeting at a nightclub in a Mediterranean resort, seven young adults decide to continue partying aboard a luxury yacht in the middle of the ocean. But when one of them dies in a freak accident the others argue about what to do, leading to a ruthless fight for survival.

I think I will wait for it to come out on DVD.
