Simon Pegg And Nick Frost officially in TINTIN

by Joey Paur

This is some pretty fun news that was unveiled by Ain't it Cool News. There were rumors floating around about some of the casting, but it seems to have been confirmed that ubber geeks Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have been officially cast as the Thompson Twins in the 'Tintin' films, which are being directed by Steven Spielberg and Perter Jackson. Spielberg will direct the first 'Tintin' film and is supposed to start shooting early this year. Peter Jackson will then direct the second film, and apparently they are going to tag team a third film. That is if any money is made of the first movie.  Andy Serkis has already been cast as Tintin's friend Captain Haddock.

The movie is going to be a CGI animated film that will use motion-capture technology. The main selling point for me with this film is to see how Spielberg and Jackson use motion capture technology for such a stylized comic design. I wonder if they will keep the Thompson Twins as the Thompson Twins or if they will allow for Pegg and Frost's features to shine through on the characters.

DreamWorks' first "Tintin" feature, targeted for a 2010 release, will be based on two of the books, "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's Treasure," written by Tintin creator Herge between 1942 and 1944.
