Joss Whedon's CABIN IN THE WOODS Delayed a Year but Going 3D

I'm just going to assume you all knew that Joss Whedon wrote a script for a high concept horror/slasher film called, The Cabin in the Woods. The film was set to come out on February 2010, but MGM has announced recently that the movie will not be released until January 14th 2011. They also through in some bonus surprise news that the Drew Goddard directed film will be transformed in 3D. I'm not sure why they are going this route. Maybe they think it will be worth the effort to take the time and spend the money to bring it to audiences in 3D. As you know 3D horror films is a growing trend in Hollywood. The Cabin in the Woods story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. No other information has been given.
