Stephen Fry writing Peter Jackson's DAMBUSTERS
Peter Jackson's World War II film Dambusters that he has been talking about for a few years now is moving forward with a screenwriter, by the name of Stephen Fry, who is a jack of all trades. He is a actor, writer, and producer. You might now him from TV shows, Kingdom and Bones. He also played Deitrich in the film, V For Vendetta.
Not only does the film have a writer but it may have a director as well; Peter Jackson himself. I didn't think he would direct this film. I heard he was looking to hire another director to take on the project, but according to AICN it looks like he might dive into the directing duties.
It was also revealed that Dambusters is currently in pre-production, and Jackson has already created the Lancaster Bombers in New Zealand and the film is ready to shoot.
I was hoping that Jackson's next film would be Temeraire, which is based on the books by Naomi Novik. The story is a re-imagining of the epic events of the Napoleonic Wars with an air force of dragons, manned by crews of aviators. This project has been in pre-production for quite some time now.
Who knows. Maybe Jackson will get someone else to direct Dambusters so he can direct Temeraire. I'll be happy either way, Peter Jacksons the man.
