GREEN LANTERN May Shoot in New Orleans and Be a Lead-in to Justice League Movie

As you know Warner Bros' The Green Lantern is no longer shooting in Australia. It was thought that the production might end up in Canada or Mexico, but today we find out that the film production may in fact take place in South Louisiana, New Orleans. As of right now Warner Bros. is in talks with State film production officials, and an official at New Orleans' fledgling Second Line Stages said he has been contacted by producers and that Green Lantern production offices could be set up in town as early as this week. The manger of studio operation Kevin Murphy says,

The rumors are correct. We are working out the details, and we have a nonrefundable contract to rent stage space to the production.

Of course Warner Bros. won't comment on any of this, even though Murphy said his company's contract with Green Lantern producers calls for the production to occupy Second Line's sound stages in December, at which point crews would begin building sets. Principal photography would then begin in March and to continue through July or August.

It sounds like Warner Bros. and director Martin Campbell are pretty serious about it, if what Murphy is saying is true. There is also a little tidbit of information in the article that I found interesting, and this was the first time I've heard of anything like this regarding The Green Lantern film, but the article says that The Green Lantern is the first of a trilogy of films that will lead into a Justice League movie. Here is what the article says:

Green Lantern is expected to be the first in a trilogy of films focusing on D.C.'s Justice League heroes -- the others being The Flash and Wonder Woman -- before uniting all three with fellow League members Batman, Superman and Aquaman for a Justice League movie.

I've never heard that outside of my own speculation. I wonder if these people know something we don't know or if this is just their own speculation. That would be great if this is true! I guess we'll have to wait and see.

As you know the movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and is set to come out June 17th 2011. What are your thoughts on this news?
