Wanna Hear a Crazy STAR WARS Rumor about a new Trilogy?
First of all, I have to tell you that this is only a rumor, and as of right now, there is no truth to it. But it is fun to entertain the idea and see what you all think of it.
According to a tip Marketsaw got from a source, George Lucas plans to make a new trilogy of Star Wars film in stereoscopic 3D. Lucas has a great animated series on Cartoon Network with Clone Wars, a new live-action TV series that is in development, and now there are rumors of three brand new Star Wars films in the works.
I've been hearing whispers of something like this happening since the release of Star Wars: Episode III, but nothing has ever emerged from it outside people's wild imagination. Which is all I think this is. But, I could be wrong. The next part of this rumor is what makes me strongly believe that the news is bull crap.
They say Lucas has no interest in directing the three movies(which is a good thing!) But then their source goes as far as to say that Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola are possible directors for the future Star Wars films.
Thats so far fetched that I'm not buying it. Steven Spielberg couldn't even direct it if he wanted to because he would have to leave the Directors Guild to do it. Because Lucas is not part of the Guild and doesn't abide by their guidelines. It's the same reason why Spielberg didn't end up directing Return of the Jedi.
Lucas is still planning on converting his old Star Wars movies to 3D. Thats been confirmed and has been in the works for some time now. The rest of the news I consider to be a big fat Star Wars pipe dream. But wouldn't it be cool if it turned out to be true? Being the huge Star Wars fan that I am, I would love to see three more Star Wars films NOT directed by George Lucas. I just don't want to get my hopes up. Talk to me! What are you thinking?

How seriously should you consider these rumors? Well it is coming from a source that SHOULD KNOW. This source is absolutely connected. So odds are it is seriously being talked about at Lucasfilm. Right now. Will it happen? AVATAR will have to hit and hit big and then all the stars have to align properly - all I can do is pass on the info.
