Movie Trailer Views Online Vs. Box Office Receipts Chart

This chart proves that just because a trailer is a big hit and popular online, doesn't mean it results in a high box office return. This is a really interesting chart that I thought might help put some things in perspective for you. I know it did for me, I was kind of surprised at the results that were displayed. For example, look at Jennifer’s Body, it had over 7 million trailer views online, but made less than $10 million on opening weekend. Now look at Law Abiding Citizen, which had a few hundred thousand trailer views online, and made over $20 million during its opening weekend.
