There have been rumors floating around recently that Lucasfilm was going to give the six Star Wars films that have been made, the 3D treatment. And that we would possibly see three new 3D Star Wars films. Being a huge fan of Star Wars, I was kind of excited for it. Now it looks like there has been no truth behind those rumors. According to Lucasfilm's Head of Fan Relations, Steve Sansweet, the new 3D trilogy of films is not going to happen anytime soon. Probably never.

When Movie Geek Feed asked about the rumors, Sansweet had this to say:

It wasn't a news item. It was something that somebody made up. It's totally, totally ignorant and stupid, and even the people who picked it up and spread it along, said there's no way this can be true. And of course there's no way it can be true. You shouldn't believe what you read on the internet. Take everything with a big grain of salt.

Wow! Ignorant and stupid? I don't think it's ignorant and stupid at all. Maybe, hopeful thinking from Star Wars fans. And it's definitely not a stupid idea! If they did make the three new 3D films, they would most likely bring in a few hundred million dollars. I don't think that's stupid at all. I think they're stupid if they don't do it.

So basically the Star Wars 3D trilogy of films will most likely never happen.  So what do you all think of the news?
