ROBIN HOOD Behind the Scenes - First look at Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian & more!

Melbourne's Today Show aired a 4-minute behind the scenes look at director Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. The segment features a hilarious interview with an extremely blunt Russell Crowe, who stars as the title character. Crowe likened the hair and set pieces of the Kevin Costner take on Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, to "watching an extended Jon Bon Jovi video clip." From the photos that have surfaced(leaked) for Scott's more epic and realistic version of the tale, you can actually understand where's he's coming from(joke or not).

Up until this point, we had yet to see Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. In the segment, we get our first look at her in the role.  The role was originally tapped for Sienna Miller. But after several revised versions of the script, Blanchett was more age appropriate to the changes to the character and replaced Miller. Crowe acknowledges that Miller would have been great, but ultimately Blanchett is the more sensible choice. I have to agree. I have quite the soft spot for Cate. Even with how "hot" Miller is(and she is), Blanchett sort of just takes your breath away every second she's on screen. In this, you see her rocking a darker and longer do. As well as her in full armor, kickin' some ass.

So just how much epic Gladiator-esque "ass-kickery" can we expect from Ridley Scott's Robin Hood? Writer Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential/Mystic River/Green Zone), the latest writer to join the project and who's version they've been shooting with, told Empire:

I was brought in by Ridley [Scott] and my orders from him were, 'I want to do Robin Hood I want to make it real, how it might actually have been - not the myth. The action will be more visceral than you've seen [in Robin Hood films] before. I don't think a single person swings on a rope in this movie."
