Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams in talks for TOWN HOUSE
After nearly two-years of delays due to the 2007 writers strike, Fox 2000's loose adaptation of Tish Cohen's novel Town House is finally on track. John Carney(Once) has been on board to direct, and adapted the book with writer Doug Wright.
Now the project may get a couple of well-knowns with Zach Galifianakis(The Hangover) and Amy Adams(Julie & Julia/Doubt) in talks to star in the dramedy being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott through their Fox-based Scott Free banner.
Town House centers on an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father's work dwindling, the man is forced to come to terms with his life.
Galifianakis would play the lead, and Adams would take on the role of a call girl strikes up a friendship with his character.
It's good to see Galfianakis finally taking on a lead role! He's always the sidekick, granted to hilarious results, like in HBO's Bored to Death. He has various other projects in the pipeline. But he will next be seen in the George Clooney starrer Up in the Air. He's also set to star in the adaptation of It's Kind of a Funny Story, but I'm most excited to see him alongside Steve Carell and Paul Rudd in Jay Roach's comedy Dinner for Schmucks.
It's hard for me to picture Adams as a call girl, but is there anything she hasn't managed pull off? She recently wrapped production on David O. Russell's The Fighter, alongside Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
I've been looking forward to seeing what Carney would do after his brilliant micro-budget film Once. It'll be interesting to see what he does with a bigger budget.
Fox 2000 is aiming Town House for a summer 2010 start date, for a 2011 release.
