SIN CITY 2 Going into Production Next Year

We've been hearing rumblings of a sequel to the Robert Rodriguez / Frank Miller film, Sin City, for some time now. Everyone's been talking about doing it, but no one has given any details on when it will happen, who exactly will be involved, and who will do what. Now we have a clear idea of most of these aspects of the production. Producer Stephen L'Heureux recently talked to mania about Sin City, and another Miller film, Hard Boiled.

L'Heureux confirmed that Sin City 2 will go into production in the second half of 2010. The sequel will be based on an original script written by Frank Miller. And like the first film, Miller and Rodriguez will co-direct. We all know Rodriguez is really good, but after Miller's film The Spirit, I don't care to see him direct any other movie again. If Rodriguez is around to guide him like last time, I'm sure it will be okay.

As for Miller's Hard Boiled film, L'Heureux says it is still in the early stages.

We're still developing it. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank. It's such a pleasure to work with someone like Frank Miller. He's so smart and passionate about story at all levels from 1940s noir pulp to modern film.

As for when we will see the movie hit theaters, it all comes down to Millers schedule.

With Sin City just on the horizon, I don't think we'd be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as Sin City seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long. We have to space it for Frank. There's also talk, of course, of Sin City 3.

It looks like Miller is going to direct Hard Boiled as well. I'm surprised anyone would want him to direct another film after The Spirit flopped. I really enjoyed the first Sin City film, and I've been looking forward to a sequel since the first film came out. I'm excited to see what they have in store for us.
