Here are a couple new images for the Neil Marshall directed Roman epic, Centurion. There really isn't much that has been released on this film, these are the first decent images we have seen and they look great. It definitely got that historic movie feel that Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven had.  The movie speculates on the fate of Rome's reputedly lost Ninth Legion. In this film the Legion is north of Hadrian's Wall, engaged in a bloody battle and facing a bit of trouble getting out of hostile Pict country.

Here is the plot summary from Imdb:

Britain, A.D. 117. Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, marches north with General Virilus' legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.

Neil Marshall told Empire:

The Picts are like the Indians and our Romans are like the cavalry. So, a Scottish-Roman Western! Who'd have thought?

The hero of the story is Fassbender's Quintus, seen in the second of these pictures with Liam.

Fassbender added:

There's certainly a lot of head-chopping. I guess you can always make modern-day parallels, to the occupation of Iraq. But it's the idea of someone who believes in an ethos, becomes disillusioned and comes to his own sort of beliefs. So there are parallels, and it's interesting when you take it out of our time frame and stick it back 2,000 years.

I'm looking forward to checking out this movie. I have high hopes for it. I can't wait to see a trailer. They definitely have a fantastic story to tell. If you are not familiar with the story check out the details here.   What do you think of the photos?

This film stars Dominic West, Michael Fassbender, Noel Clarke, David Morrisey, JJ Feild, and Olga Kurylenko. The movie is currently in post-production, and is set to come out March 2010.
