For those of you who don't know the name Oren Peli yet, he is the guy behind the  Paranormal Activity movie phenomenon that is slowly rolling out into theaters. We reported earlier that Peli's next directing gig would be a film be Area 51, based on the video game from Midway. The production on Area 51 starts up next week, and the story will employ the "found footage" narrative structure, which he used for his last film, the same style The Blair Witch Project used, and Cloverfield. It is tell the story of three teens whose curiosity leads them to the notorious Area 51 part of Nellis Air Force Base in the Nevada desert.

I assume the teens are going to have a video camera with them the whole time, recording the whole experience no matter what happens. One of them could be attacked by a sinister alien, and his friend with the camera (James), will stand there and record it going, "Oh my god! I can't believe this is happening to us! Nooooooo!" The friend (Billy) is torn in half, and his torso is laying on the floor. As he coughs up blood his friend with the camera will run up to him and record his death and in a frighten crying voice say, "Billy! Your going to be ok man! Hang in there! Don't you die on me! I'll kill you if you die on me you asshole! Your my best friend." Billy takes one more bloody breath and dies. Another friend Ian who was in shock of the whole attack walks up to James and put's his hand on Billy's shoulder, "He's gone, now come on, we got to get the hell out of here or we'll be next." Billy gets up and points the camera at Ian, "You insensitive prick." James then bashes Ian's head in with the camera to a bloody pulp and kills him. After Ian is dead James begins to laugh hysterically and he points the camera at his own face, the laugh turns into a monstrous laugh as James human face turns into an alien, the whole time James was a shapeshifter! The End.

So that probably won't be exactly what happens but you get the idea. Anyway Peli will have $5 million dollars to play with on Area 51, thats much more than the $11,000 he used to make Paranormal Activity. It should be interesting to see how Area 51 turns out. What do you all think?
