New Regency and producer Peter Chernin recently won a bidding battle for the movie rights to, My Name Is Memory, which is the first of a three book series written by by Ann Brashares, and it wont be published until next June. Brashers is the same author that wrote, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
The series begins as a college-age couple meets, and a young man makes a startling confession. Turns out their souls have been reincarnated over hundreds of years, but these soulmates keep losing each other. While he remembers the details of their previous lives— and his often exasperating attempts to connect with her romantically—she cannot recall the events of those past lives.
Perhaps she can't recall the events because the guy is either nuts, or this is just his way of picking up on the ladies. Think about this... in every reincarnated life that they've lived he's been trying to pick up on this girl yet they keep losing each other, but "he knows" they are "soul mates," perhaps he is just losing her. Obviously the reason they keep loosing each other is because she doesn't want to have anything to do with him, and she keeps denying him. This guy just wont ever give up. What would make this movie even better, is to go against the grain.. make the main male lead incredibly ugly and the female lead incredibly hot. Apparently the book has elements of Twilight and The Time Traveler's Wife.
This movie definitely isn't for me. How about you?
