Change in Direction for RAMBO 5?
ScreenRant just received a tip that Sylvester Stallone's Rambo V: The Savage Hunt might be undergoing a plot shift.
If you'll recall, Venkman brought us details and a plot summary of the film a couple months ago. Essentially, John Rambo was to battle a "feral beast" in the Pacific Northwest. Interestingly, the initial rumor about the plot revolved around Rambo crossing the Mexican border and battling drug lords in an attempt to save a captured young girl.
Now, ScreenRant's tipster provides a post from a fan forum called Stallone Zone which he claims is from Stallone himself. I'll let him take it from here.
To all the loyal SZoners out there,
I'm letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished.
There will be blood.
Best,
Sly Stallone
Obviously this news incorporates the rumored border-hopping plot, and I'm pretty disappointed to hear it. I feel like we've seen that story so many times bef0re (and we have, in films like Man on Fire), and I was really looking forward to watching Stallone further explore Rambo's psyche as he battles a man/beast in the woods. If this tip is to be believed, we're going to see both subplots in the same film, which is starting to sound stretched. They should pick one story and go with it. Why would we care about the beast fight if another character is in the lead?
What do you think? Do you care about Rambo 5, and if so, which version of the story would you rather see?
