J.J. Abrams Hasn't decided if he's going to Direct STAR TREK 2
J.J. Abrams did such a great job directing the most recent Star Trek film, and as of right now the sequel is being worked on with the script being written. Unfortunately, Abrams has yet to decide if he is going to direct Star Trek 2 or not. I can't imagine him not directing it. If he doesn't do it, I can see a lot of the excitment level for the franchise dropping amoung fans. He came in to reboot the series and he did a great job! He gained the trust of a bunch of fanboys and fangirls. To hand off the sequel to another director would be a disservice to the fans that made the first movie the success that it was. In a recent interview with ComingSoon, Abrams had this to say:
The truth is, the idea of anyone else directing the next Star Trek film breaks my heart. I had the most fun ever with these people. But, it's impossible to know when the script is done. That's the time to look at it and ask, "is this the right thing for the movie? Is it the right thing for me? My family?" and all that stuff. It's so hard to know a year out with no script in existance if I should direct the movie. I look forward to making that decision when the time comes.
I can understand where he is coming from in making a decision like that when it comes to family. But still, it would kinda suck if he chose not to direct it. I guess it all comes down to what his life is like when the script is set and they are ready to start production.
If Abrams ends up not directing the film, who would you be happy with taking over the directing duties?
