Art of Tim Burton Book and concepts from his unfilmed SUPERMAN LIVES! movie

Back in June we brought you a preview of the Tim Burton exhibit at New York's Museum of Modern Art. To celebrate the exhibit, Steeles Publishing will be releasing The Art of Tim Burton in both Standard and Deluxe Edition books, which will include over 1000 illustrations on 430 pages with additional foldouts.

The Art of Tim Burton is the definitive compilation of forty years of Tim Burton’s artistry, including film concepts and hundreds of illustrations from his personal archives, edited under the creative guidance of Burton himself. This comprehensive 434 page book is grouped into thirteen chapters that examine common themes in Burton’s work, from his fascination with clowns to his passion for misunderstood monsters, to his delight in the oddities of people. Many of Burton’s friends and collaborators offer their thoughts, insight and anecdotes about Tim Burton’s style and artistic approach to life.

Included among the many pieces of art original concept designs from his films like A Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks! and Edward Scissor Hands, there are also a few pieces from Burton's Batman films as well as another Burton comic-book adaptation... Superman!

Like many of Tim Burton's projects that never made it to the screen, Superman Lives! got close enough to production for him to work on character design. Below are Burton's concepts for Braniac, for his never-made Superman movie, which was to star Nicolas Cage as the Man of Steel.

The Standard Edition of the Art of Tim Burton Book is available for pre-order for $69.99 , where there is also a full gallery of pics there as well. Thanks to /Film for the heads up.
