David Fincher has lined up another directing gig! He will be adapting the book, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, with the same creative team that helped him develop the film Seven. Andrew Kevin Walker is coming on board to write the script and Michael De Luca is directing.

The Reincarnation of Peter Proud was written by Max Ehrlich, and he actually wrote an adaptation of his own book for a film made back in 1975 with was directed by J. Lee Thompson and starred Michael Sarrazin and Margot Kidder. I've never seen this film.

The story seems right up Fincher's alley though. It centers on a college professor who realizes his recurring dreams and nightmares are images of a past life, and decides to search out the source of the visions. With his girlfriend in tow, he discovers a woman and her grown-up daughter who are keys to his past life.

Apparently there is a little controversy surrounding the story because of a subplot involving incest. Yeah, that probably won't go over very well with most people. The creative team is using the novel as their source material.

David Fincher is one of my favorite directors and I think he will do a great job developing this story into a film. He is currently prepping to shoot his next film, The Social Network, which is based around the founders of Facebook.
