Peter Bergs BATTLESHIP Movie will have... Aliens?

So Peter Berg is directing a film based on the famous hasbro board game, Battleship. Berg is very excited about making the film, because of his love for the Navy and Battleships. In a recent interview he talked about how action-packed it would be and said it would be, "a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle." What we didn't know, is that these battle might actually involve aliens.

A source has confirmed to our pals Latino Review that aliens will be involved in Bergs Battleship film, which seems so far fetched and absolutely ridiculous that this movie is getting farther and farther away from being associated with the board game. So why did they spend all that money on the rights to the board game? Unless, Hasbro plans on launching a new Battleship game  involving the Navy and aliens.

I honestly didn't see Universal Pictures taking it in this direction. I was actually kind of excited for a cool movie about Naval warfare, throwing aliens into the mix doesn't sweeten the deal for me at all. In fact it just seems like adding aliens is taking it one step closer to being a bad film.

Now I'm a huge sci-fi geek, but what in the hell do aliens have to do with Battleship!? It's like the studio is just looking for something to give it more of an edge. I don't know, maybe it will end up being a fun decent movie. But as of right now I'm not sold on the idea. How about you?
