Barry Sonnenfeld to Direct DreamWorks Animated Film GIL'S ALL FRIGHT DINER
The A. Lee Martinez novel, Gil's All Fright Diner is being adapted into a full blown DreamWorks animated film, and Barry Sonnenfeld is attached to direct!
The story revolves around a couple buddies who happen to be a vampire and a werewolf who battle zombies and try to save the world, after they stop in a diner in the desert that is a conduit for the supernatural.
Vampires and werwolves battling zombies!? I'm in! It is the perfect B-movie idea that would make it a great CGI 3D animated film. And you know since DreamWorks Animation is involved that it will definitely be a 3D movie.
Twilight would have been a much better film had Edward and Jacob teamed up to fight zombies.

Bloodier than Fried Green Tomatoes! Funnier than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Welcome to Gil's All Night Diner, where zombie attacks area regular occurrence and you never know what might be lurking in the freezer . . . . Duke and Earl are just passing through Rockwood County in their pickup truck when they stop at the Diner for a quick bite to eat. They aren't planning to stick around-until Loretta, the eatery's owner, offers them $100 to take care of her zombie problem. Given that Duke is a werewolf and Earl's a vampire, this looks to be right up their alley.
Sounds like it could be an incredibly fun animated film. This is a perfect story for director Barry Sonnenfeld to tackle as well! He is best known for his Men in Black films, Get Shorty and his amazing Pushing Daisies TV series.
Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris has been hired to write the film. They previously worked on KungFu Panda, and Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. So the movie seems like it is in good creative hands all around.
DreamWorks liked the odd couple aspect of the story, this vampire and werewolf who team to save the world from an ancient demon and his modern ally, a high school cheerleader who wants to be famous.
