Terry Gilliam Wants Robert Duvall to play Don Quixote del la Mancha!

This year at Comic-Con Terry Gilliam revealed at the The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus panel that he was going to resurrect his Don Quixotefilm, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. Since then we've heard that the production is slowly moving forward, they need money, but there is still no word on who will star in the film. He tried to get Johnny Depp back in the role, but that's not going to work out due to scheduling conflicts. It's unfortunate, but the show must go on.

At least now we know who might actually end up play Don Quixote in the film... Robert Duvall anyone? Hell yeah! Duvall would make a great Don Quixote! Collider had the opportunity to interview Duvall at his new movie Crazy Heart and here is what he said:

I may work with Terry Gilliam next - if they get the money - to play Don Quixote de la Mancha. In Europe. In Spain. Totally amazing to work with Terry Gilliam. But, once again, the money. It’s so difficult to get the money. He saw me play a Cuban barber one time with Richard Harris and that’s what gave him the idea to cast me as Don Quixote.

This is perfect casting and I hope to hell this project finally gets made. It's unfortunate what happened to the film the first time around, but a great documentary was born from it called Lost in La Macha. Getting Duvall cast in the role bring the movie one step closer to finally being made.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is about a screenwriter who finds himself unstuck in time, [and] unwittingly travels between modern day London and 17th century La Mancha, where he participates in the adventures of Don Quixote, who mistakes him for Sancho Panza.

What do you think about Robert Duvall being cast as Don Quixote
