ZOMBIELAND and JACKASS Getting 3D Sequels

I knew that eventually we would see a sequel to both Zombieland and Jackass, what I didn't expect was that we would see them in 3D, I guess it will work. Remember you don't have to watch them in 3D if you don't want to.

ZOMBIELAND

Sony Pictures is currently working out the details to bring back the Zombieland team of death, and Paramount Pictures has just greenlit the third Jackass film of destruction and pain. I seriously can't believe the Jackass guys are willing to put themselves through a strenuous amount of torturous pain yet again. Only now we get to see their balls being smashed in 3D glory.

So what's up with the 3D madness? The studio's are looking to maximize their profits. Apparently lots of people are watching movies in 3D and studios are making more money for them. Sony recently released Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3D, and Paramount released Beowulf in 3D, both of these films had a significant boost in profits from the 3D engagements. With more theaters being outfitted with the digital 3D technology more movies will be able to be released in 3D.

Zombieland Producer Gavin Polone says:

Everyone had fun watching (the first) 'Zombieland'; making it a more visceral experience can only make it better. I don't think you want to see 'Ordinary People' in 3-D. But 'Zombieland' is clearly one movie that will benefit from (the technique).

Sony has already closed deals with director Ruben Fleischer to develop the sequel and they are currently in discussions with Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles as a pair of post-apocalyptic survivors. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working on the sequel's screenplay.

As for Jackass 3, the movie is scheduled to start shooting on January 25th, and will be released sometime in 2010. Jackass director Jeff tremaine is currently conducting camera tests to make sure the footage will look good in 3D.

So What are your thoughts on Zombieland 2 and Jackass 3 in 3D?
