MARVIN THE MARTIAN Movie is Moving Forward possibly with Mike Meyers

Last year it was announced that classic Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian was going to get his own big screen adaptation. There hasn't been any new news on the production of this film until today when a director, actor, and writers have been brought in to bring the movie to life.

Marvin is definitely one of my favorite characters from the classic Warner Bros. cartoon. Believe it or not he was only in about five of the animated shorts, but he sure did make a big impact. On one hand I'm excited that he is getting his own movie, On the other hand I am scared to death that it is going to be a really crappy film. Every time Warner Bros. has thrown the Looney Tunes characters in the movies it has sucked. Unfortunately they are doing the same thing with this film that they have done before... animation mixed with live action characters. This spells disaster in my eyes. The movie should be fully animated. They have done this recently with Garfield and Alvin in the Chipmunks which you know have turned out to be awful!

Alcon Entertainment is producing the film, this is the same production company that developed the most recent holiday hit, The Blind Side. As of right now producers are in the process of talking to actors to be in the movie, one of the people they are talking to is none other than Mike Meyers, who I think is a great choice to voice Marvin.

The film will follow Marvin the Martian in his attempt to come to Earth and try to destroy Christmas, but his plans are foiled when he gets trapped inside a gift box. It doesn't really sound like a winning kind of story.

What they should have done was made a fully animated film with a story line that involves Duck Dodger's and the 24th and Half Century.

The director that was brought in for the film is an up-and-coming director named Alex Zamm who is also attached to develop the Hanna Barbara's adaptation of Hong Kong Phooey. Marvin will most likely happen first.

The two guys that will be writing the film are Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, who are two TV writers that wrote and produced the sitcom Spin City. They are also are writing the upcoming Chips movie. Yes, Chips is being adapted for the big screen as well.

I really want to be excited for this movie, but I have a feeling it's going to end up being a disappointment. The movie will most likely come out during the holiday season in 2011.

What do you think of the kind of movie Marvin the Martian is going to be turned in to?
