DESPICABLE ME Teaser Trailer #3

A third teaser trailer for the Universal Pictures CGI animated film Despicable Me has been released and I still haven't seen anything that tells me if this movie is going to be good or not. The movie is supposed to be about a trio of orphan girls that cause the normally deplorable Gru to rethink his plan to steal the moon, but we have yet to see anything that shows that story line.

The first teaser trailer shows us that the great pyramids were stolen and replaced with blow-up replicas. The second teaser focused on the character Gru which reminded me of Wile E Coyote because of the complex and ludicrous devices he was using. This third trailer focuses on Gru's Minions. I have no idea what Universal is trying to in marketing this film, but it's not very effective. I think I'm more annoyed than anything.

Here is a little explanation.

Hardworking and devoted to their leader and his mad exploits, the Minions are content to serve as his crash test dummies along the way. After all, Gru is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world…to steal the moon!

The film has got a decent voice cast though! It includes: Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Jemaine Clement, Miranda Cosgrove and Julie Andrews.

The movie comes out July 9th 2010. Check out the new teaser trailer below and tell us what you think!

Story Synopsis:

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn.  Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout.  Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world.  He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal’s new 3-D CGI feature, Despicable Me.

Gru delights in all things wicked.  Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way.  Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world’s (second) greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
