First Look at Peter Weir's THE WAY BACK - Farrell, Harris, Sturgess & Ronan

Writer/Director Peter Weir takes a good amount of time between developing each of his projects. It's been six years since his last film -- the critically acclaimed Master And Commander -- came out and over a decade since helming one of my favorite films, the layered comedy The Truman Show. So nearly a year after announcing his next writing/directing project, described as an epic and realistic WWII prisoner escape saga based on a true story, we get our first look at The Way Back.

The first few photos show off the stellar cast in action, with the last two giving you an idea of the scope and locations of the film.

Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess (21, Across The Universe), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes) and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, The Lovely Bones) star as a group of seven courageous multi-national prisoners, who escape a Siberian labor camp in 1940, that discover the true meaning of friendship as their epic journey takes them across thousands of miles of hostile terrain en-route to India and their freedom.

I like the concept, it has a great cast and with Weir at the helm its looking like a winner. It'll probably be intense, but I'm all for it.

Check out the photos and let us know what you think!
