The Dark Shadows film is based on the 1960's cult classic vampire TV show of the same name, and for some time now Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have been attached to the project. The producer of the film Graham King has confirmed that the movie will shoot in the fall of next year, and Depp is set to play the vampire Barnabas Collins.

We're actually going to shoot that film next September/October with Tim Burton and Johnny.

As of right now Burton is hard at work in the post-production aspect of Disney's Alice in Wonderland. Which looks like it will be a lot of fun.

We've been working on the script a lot, even though he's working on Alice. We've been given a script. John August wrote the first screenplay. We're making some changes, but the film's going to be in production, as I say, September or October of next year.

For those of you who don't know about Dark Shadows, it was a daytime soap opera on ABC from 1966 to 1971. NBC eventually tried to revive it as a weekly prime-time series in 1991. The show was famous for its gothic tone and setting. King said the Dark Shadows film would have something to say in the post-Twilight world of emo vampires, but wouldn't give any info on how they go about developing the new film. But she did tease:

This is going to be Tim Burton and Johnny doing a vampire movie, right?

I could definitely see the Twilight fans jumping on board the Dark Shadows band wagon, it's another vampire love story, but stars Johnny Depp, and I'd say the majority of Twilight fans like vampires and Johnny Depp. Add on all of the Dark Shadow fans, other Depp fans, and vampire fans that don't like Twilight and you have yourself  a sure fire hit.

What do you think about Burton and Depp teaming up once again for Dark Shadows?
