After seeing Watchmen the other night Zack Snyder did a little Q&A and one of the questions he was asked is what would be the next graphic novel he would like to make into a movie if he had to chose one. He replied with Frank Millers 'The Dark Knight Returns'. He said that this happening any time soon is an incredible long shot, and most likely wont even happen. But I think it would be a great film, and after watching Snyder's 'Watchmen' film I would love to see what he could do with Batman. So what is Zack Snyder going to do next?

Here are the films listed on imdb:

Gaurdians of Ga'Hoole - 2010

Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie's, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga'Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie's. The film is based on the first three books in the series.

Zack touched on this project a bit, he stressed that it was going to be a PG movie for kids but that it was going to be very cool. I have never read the books but he say's the Owl's have swords for claws.

Sucker Punch - 2011

Sucker Punch is a movie about little girl who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man. Story is set in 1950's.

This movie sounds like its going to be awesome! When he brought it up he said that he has always wanted to make an action film. He said like he had never made one before which was pretty funny. But if this movie is his verion of what a action film is then I can't wait! He also stressed that in the movie the Girl is the main character, which is something he has never really done before. It seems like the majority of the film will take place inside the head of this little girl as she imagines how she is going to escape this insane asylum. I assume it will be very action packed and violent. I have always thought Insane Asylums are great settings for crazy stories. Especially when you take it back to the 50's when these places were at their worst.

Untitled 300 Sequel - 2010

This couldn't really be a direct sequel to 300 because that battle ended and everyone died except for one. But, there are a few different stories that he could play with that would make great movies, after the Battle of Thermopylae. Click here to read about the options they have for a sequel.

The Last Photograph - 2010

A drama about two men and the photograph that inspires them to travel to war-torn Afghanistan.

This sounds like it could be a pretty serious film, one that deals more with reality than anything he has done before.

The Illustrated Man - 2010

This will be a film based on a collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury. So far screenwriter Alex Tse has taken 6 of the 18 stories to incorporate into the film including the stories 'Illustrated Man', 'Veldt', and 'Concrete Mixer'. The stories of these characters have no connection with each other but they all deal with the themes of the cold mechanics of technology, the psychology of people, and the nature of humankind are prevalent throughout every story. Each story is told by the animated tattoos on The Illustrated Mans body. Not sure if this is the route they will take for the film but it seems pretty cool.

Heavy Metal - 2010

A series of animated shorts inspired by the 1981 cult-favorite film.

This is the film being organized by David Fincher and Kevin Eastman. It will be cool to see what Snyder pulls off for this thing.

Colbalt 60 - 2011

A masked hero living in a post-apocalyptic world filled with mutants sets out to avenge his parents' brutal murder. Based on the cult comic book by Vaughn Bode.

Some of these films have only been announced and I am sure a few of them will end up dropping of the list, but it gives you a good idea of what he is looking at in terms of taste and future projects.
