TOTAL RECALL is yet another damn Film Getting Remade
Seriously! What the hell!? I just finish writing about the remake of 'The Neverending Story' and all of a sudden I learn that the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi classic 'Total Recall' is getting remade! This is just crazy!? It never ends! The remake is being set up at Columbia Pictures by Neil H. Mortiz and his Original Films production company. I find it funny that a production company named Original Films can't make an original movie. I remember going to the Drive-In movies with my family to see some movie I can't remember, because I was too busy watching 'Total Recall' on one of the other screens, I thought it was the coolest thing, but I gotta admit that woman with the triple boobage thing going on freaked me right the hell out. THR reports:
The original, based on the Philip K. Dick story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale," follows a man haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air.
The movie explores one of Dick's favorite topics, reality vs. delusion, as audiences never knew whether or not the story was a dream. Either way, the movie grossed a very real $261 million worldwide.
Calling Dick's story "prescient," Moritz said he hoped the advancements in technology and state-of-the-art visual effects can help tell the "Recall" story in a fresh way.
Man, what is Hollywood going to do when they don't have anymore movies to remake?
