BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE Movie Trailer

by Joey Paur

Hey Gang, I got a trailer here for a new Japanese film called Blood: The Last Vampire which is based on the classic Anime film directed by Hiroyuki Kitakudo in 2000. It was in May of 2006 that 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' Producer Bill Kong announced that he would be developing a live-action film. The live action version will be directed by Chris Nahon.

The film's setting is shifted slightly from the anime to 1948 at a United States Army camp in Tokyo, shortly after the conclusion of World War II during the American occupation of Japan. Saya will be a 400-year-old half human-half vampire who hunts vampires which are also her only source for food. Normally a loner, Saya forms a friendship with a young girl while preparing to battle Onigen, the highest ranking of the vampires.

I loved the anime version of the story. It was pretty freakin amazing. The live action version doesn't look too bad, the trailer is only 30 sec. long so you really don't get a full taste of what it has to offer. You can be sure that an American Hollywood studio will pick up the rights and make the Americanized version in the next year or two.

Apparently it is set to be released in the US in March and June in the UK.
